WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Mizan

Mizan is the Arabic word for scales. The exchange between us should be balanced. You pay for a defined piece of work and receive exactly that, without reduction and without inflation.

Balance

You pay for what you receive and receive what you pay for. If a quoted figure proves higher than the actual cost, I correct it without being asked. If the work requires less time than estimated, the price is reduced accordingly. If it requires more, the additional cost is mine, because the price was fixed before the work began.

Accuracy

I verify before I state. This applies to pricing, technical claims, and figures on an invoice. Nothing is asserted from memory when it can be checked, and anything found to be incorrect is corrected openly rather than quietly. That standard applies to my own errors first.

Confidentiality

What you tell me remains confidential indefinitely, including after the engagement ends. This extends to anything I observe on your equipment, which is frequently more than a client realizes is visible.

Availability

You have a single point of contact and are not required to pursue it. Response times are stated in writing so that you know what to expect, and I meet them. You should not have to contact a provider's support line again. Handling that correspondence is part of the work.

Integrity

Domains, hosting, email, and third-party accounts are registered in your name from the outset. I hold administrative access only, and I return it whenever it is requested. Nothing is arranged in a way that would make ending the engagement difficult.

Documentation

You receive written documentation of the work performed and how the resulting systems operate, together with training if you want it. Both are included in the engagement rather than charged separately. The objective is that you are able to operate without me, not that you are required to call.

The right recommendation

If a less expensive option would serve you better, I say so. If a service I offer is not what your situation requires, I say that as well. If you are about to spend money on something that will not address the problem, I tell you before the expense is incurred. I would rather retain your trust over several years than increase a single invoice.

How is pricing set?

Wherever the scope can be defined, you receive a fixed price in writing before work begins. Open-ended work is billed hourly, and I tell you when the clock is running. Current prices are on the services and pricing page.

Who will actually do the work?

I will. Mizan Group LLC is a one-person company with no subcontractors. You deal with me from the first message to the final invoice.

Who owns my domains and accounts?

You do. Domains, hosting, email, and third-party accounts are registered in your name from the outset. I hold administrative access only and return it whenever you ask.

Do you only work in Northern Virginia?

On-site visits cover Northern Virginia. Remote support, email and domain work, and websites are available anywhere.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Eastern. Evenings and weekends are available by appointment.

Is there anything you do not do?

I do not repair hardware at the component level. Software-side recovery, rebuilds, and replacements are covered. If what you need is outside what I offer, I will tell you before you spend anything.
